Summary
What does the code on a motorcycle wheel bearing explain? Some people also know these bearings as deep groove bearings as inside the bearings the balls run inside a 'deep groove' within the inner and outer bearing ring. Wheel bearings are always sealed. The '2RS' sometimes seen after the 4 digit code indicates that the wheel bearing is double sealed. Wheel bearings have a 4 digit code which always begins with a 6. The 6 signifies that it is a wheel bearing (deep groove). The second digit is a code number referring to the outer diameter. The last 2 digits of the wheel bearing refer to the inner diameter. If the last 2 digits are '05' then the inner diameter would be 20mm. You multiple the last two digits by 4 (05x4=20mm) With the last 2 digits there are a few examples where you don't multiply it at all. These exceptions are indicated by a '/'. 69/22 is an example of this.
