Suzuki Eco Performance Alpha (SEP-α) engine

The BURGMAN STREET 125EX was developed as part of Suzuki’s ongoing efforts to offer a premium riding experience that features greater fuel economy and quieter operation combined with excellent performance that does not sacrifice environmental responsibility or rider comfort and convenience. The SEP-α engine delivers the powerful acceleration and exciting off-the-line response you desire. It also satisfies Euro 5 emissions standards and achieve low fuel consumption of 1.9L/100km (52.6km/L)* and low CO2 emissions of a mere 44g/km* (in WMTC mode testing with EASS switched on). And now, this new engine performs even more quietly, smoothly, and efficiently thanks to the introduction of Suzuki’s new Engine Auto Stop-Start (EASS) idling stop system and Silent Starter System, which quietly start the engine, automatically shut it down when you stop, and restart it when you take off again . Moreover, the engine’s air-cooled design makes it a reliable powerplant that is easy to maintain and economical to run. Compact and light in weight, it also contributes to realizing an eye-catching design that features nimble handling, luxurious comfort, and utility.

Silent Starter System

The BURGMAN STREET 125EX is the first Suzuki motorcycle or scooter to adopt our new Silent Starter System. The system quietly starts the engine and works in conjunction with the idling stop function of EASS to restart it when you turn the throttle to resume riding. The engine comes to life smoothly, as if it had been running the entire time, providing a more refined riding experience than on any previous Suzuki scooter.

Engine Auto Stop-Start (EASS) system

 

The new EASS stop-start system, also a first on a Suzuki motorcycle or scooter, automatically shuts down and restarts the engine to reduce the amount of time it idles when stopped. This reduces fuel consumption and emissions, so proves highly beneficial when stopping for traffic lights or riding in stop-and-go traffic.

Note:

1. EASS only functions when the following conditions are met: the engine is sufficiently warm, the battery is in good condition, the side stand is stowed, and the scooter has reached a speed of at least 10 km/h while running.
2. Starting the engine requires the ignition to be turned on and the starter button pressed while squeezing the brake lever and with the side stand stowed.

Full digital instrumentation

The full digital instrument panel for the BURGMAN STREET 125EX features a compact LCD screen with a clean and intuitive layout that displays all the information you require in real time. It is illuminated to maximize visibility both day and night. One instrument of note is the Suzuki Eco Drive Indicator, which lights up when the scooter is being ridden in a fuel-efficient manner. This instant feedback can help you learn techniques for maximizing fuel economy.

• Combined Brake System
  Suzuki’s Combined Brake System supports well-balanced braking by distributing braking force to both the front and rear wheels when the left brake lever is operated. Stable stopping power is provided by a 190mm diameter disc brake in the front and a 130mm drum brake in the rear.
  * The Combined Brake System is intended only to assist braking operation. We strongly recommend that riders normally use both brake levers to control the front and rear brakes when braking.

• High quality tires contribute to a superior ride
  The BURGMAN STREET 125EX rides on DUNLOP D307 N tubeless tires mounted on cast aluminum wheels that are designed to perform as well as they look. Well suited to European road conditions and of quality high enough to satisfy Suzuki’s stringent testing standards, these tires help deliver superior running performance and a smoother ride, particularly on cobblestones and other rough road surfaces.

Roomy foot space and dedicated footboards

The generously proportioned floorboard offers flexibility in foot positioning that lets you better maintain a comfortable riding position. Dedicated right and left footboards up front provide extra space you can use to extend your legs and cruise in greater comfort. Cut-away sections at the rear of the floorboard make it easier to place both your feet firmly on the ground when stopped.

  Rear carrier with integrated grab bar
  A rear carrier is standard equipment on the BURGMAN STREET 125EX. Its integrated grab bar gives the passenger a firm grip for extra comfort and peace of mind. The carrier* is handy for carrying extra gear, or for mounting the optional top case available as a genuine accessory.
  * Rear carrier load capacity is 6kg.

  Dual utility hooks
  A pair of sturdy hooks let you hang various types of bags, including shopping bags above the floorboard. This expands your ability to carry items and provides greater convenience than accessing the underseat storage. The back hook can be locked to better secure items, and can be folded out of the way when not in use.

  Underseat storage
  With a space-optimized design and capacity of 21.5L, the underseat utility compartment makes it easy to stow items such as shopping bags or rain gear where they are out of sight and protected from the elements. Two hooks inside the front lip of the compartment make it easy to hang a pair of helmets when parking. Both hooks are thick and strong, so your helmets are held securely in place.
  * The weight limit for items in the underseat compartment is 10kg. * Do not use the compartment to store items that are fragile, valuable, dangerous, or susceptible to heat.

  Theft deterrent key system with seat opener function
  You can quickly open the shutter that conceals the ignition key hole using the easy-to-operate magnetic mechanism coded to your key, even when wearing gloves. And the shutter closes again with a simple push of a button. There is also a handy function that opens the seat with the key still in the ignition, giving you quick access to the underseat utility compartment and fuel cap.

  Side stand interlock system
  A switch attached to the side stand prevents engine ignition while the stand is down. This helps protect you against carelessly starting off with the stand extended. And the BURGMAN STREET 125EX is equipped with both a center stand and a side stand as standard equipment.
